So here we are at the end of another year and my mind has inevitably wandered towards new year’s resolutions. Every December/January I set myself goals for the year; lose weight, get fit, learn a new language, a new instrument, read more books, take up crafting… the list goes on and I can safely say I have never achieved any of them. So, this afternoon it hit me. Why don’t I ignore tradition, avoid my usual pitfalls and just decide to have a good year?
I have decided to start as I mean to go on and keep a blog of my first year – perhaps an ambitious start as I have never written a blog before but hey ho – here we go! First things first, I needed a name. I chose a quote from the inimitable Elizabeth Taylor – upon placing her huge diamond ring on Princess Margaret’s finger (who had commented that a stone that size was vulgar) – she commented:
“not so vulgar now is it?”
